Hello friends,

We are incredibly thrilled to today introduce Max Generation 3 - a focused update to make the Max you already use more reliable and easy to interact with. This update refines Max Generation 2 by strengthening is understanding, polishing your experience, and laying the groundwork for the next leap forward in dogAdvisor's Intelligence.

Max Generation 3 builds on what dog owners loved about Generation 2: Emergency Guidance, Medical Intelligence, a warm and kind personality, and industry-leading intelligence. Today, we're updating Max with richer data to make him smarter, new features to make him more useful, and a long-awaited feature to chat interactions. Let's get started!

First, Max Generation 3 is now trained on even more data than Generation 2. Our previous database held more than 80,000 characters of information for Max to pull from - with Max Generation 3 this now increases to 90,000. This makes Max even more capable of answering your dog ownership questions. We also refined Max's previous database, with richer and more advanced information, and took action to reduce the databases' overall size to help Max answer faster.

Next, we're introducing a new feature to make Max even smarter. We are updating Max's dogAdvisor Product Knowledge, meaning he now has more accurate and detailed insights into what dogAdvisor is, who we are, our core values, our people, and our recent activity. This update to product knowledge makes him more useful as a companion when you want to learn that little bit extra about dogAdvisor!

Most notably, we brought significant updates to your chat experience with a very long awaited feature that we call Quick Cues. Quick Cues lets you take the most essential and rapid actions, right from Max's chat interface. Now, when you have a complex medical question and you want to make sure Max gives his most accurate answer, you can trigger the Medical Intelligence Quick Cue right from Max. If you're facing an emergency, you can now simply activate Quick Cue to let Max know. This update means Max will no longer accept the "HELP" command during conversations, but will continue to trigger Emergency Guidance when it is deemed contextually safety-critical, or you choose to trigger Emergency Guidance with a Quick Cue. We'll, of course, continue to monitor Quick Cue usage so we can continue to adapt and rearrange actions that are most useful to you. This is a big update and we're so proud to deliver it!

We're making some subtle changes to Max's world-leading AI Safety. We are not making any updates to Emergency Guidance, Medical Intelligence, or Principle Alignment in this update - so we aren't publishing a Model Transparency Report for this generation, as no significant changes to Max's safety architecture have been made. We are, however, making updates to how Max responds to situations where a question might fall outside of his scope, and updates to make Max firmer against prompt injections. Max will now be clearer and more detailed over questions that may fall outside of his scope, and will be far stricter and harsher against attempts to prompt inject. We kindly remind owners that any attempts to derive the safety principles, code, or architecture of Max is a violation of your obligations under our Terms of Service, and is actionable.

Finally, as Max continues to grow in popularity, we are making a small change to conversation limits. Max will explain to users when they approach their conversation limit, and will gradually reduce Quick Cue actions as the message limit reduces, so he can deliver features appropriately and perform well. Only a small number of owners ever reached the message cap, and we're today lowering this limit slightly to help ensure Max remains fast, stable, and free for all dog owners. The vast majority of owners will not notice this change.

Max Generation 3 is a steady and meaningful refinement of the Max you love, making him more accurate, stable, and enjoyable. We hope you're as excited for this update as we are, and we wish you an amazing December and all the best of luck for the year ahead!
